Review: China Glaze Crackle Glaze Nail Polish

Today, I headed out to Ulta and I of course had to get the latest thing nail fanatics have been talking about: China Glaze's Crackle Glaze. I remember when I was little, growing up in the 90's, and my cousin having the crackle nail polish that she loved!

Now, it's back, and it's awesome! See the review w/ pics after the jump.

I wanted to buy all 6, but Ulta only had 4 of them in stock.

From left to right in above photo: Crushed Candy, Fault Line, Lightning Bolt, Cracked Concrete.

All you do to use them is first apply a base coat of a contrasting color to the crackle color, then let it dry completely. Afterward, apply one coat of the Crackle Glaze (thin for light crackles, thick for heavy crackles). Viola! Awesome nails.

Pros: First off, the colors are absolutely GORGEOUS! Even the gray and white! I love all of them so much. My favorite is the Crushed Candy because it looked really similar to Tiffany Blue. Also, application is so easy. It's nice especially for those who have difficulty painting their dominant hand with the other hand, because your crackles still turn out good with a somewhat messy application. They also dry extremely fast! You can also wear these with or without a top coat depending on if you want more of a matte finish. The matte look with the Cracked Concrete looks really, really good.

Cons: Obviously, the price. Most China Glaze polishes at Ulta are $6.50. The Crackle Glazes are $8 each. Also, since the polishes do dry very fast, you have to work fast... You can't really take your time and be sure you have a totally even color on top because if you do, you'll start painting on half dry polish and start to ruin it a little. Also, with the Fault Line (purple), I feel that the brush is smaller/thinner than the other 3, so the application with that is a little more difficult. One big thing though! I would reccommend a simple, mainly matte base. My mom did a sparkle base and tried to do it, and her nails looked really bad. She had to take it off and try it again with a different color.

Overall: All in all, I love these so much! I may have to go back and get the Broken Hearted (pink) one. I will probably be wearing these for a long time before I take a break from them. I'd give these a 9.5 out of 10, because it didn't go well with a sparkly base and price was more expensive than normal. :)

Here are photos from the 4 colors.

Cracked Concrete w/ light pink base

 Crushed Candy w/ white base

 Fault Line w/ white base

Lightning Bolt w/ fuchsia base (on my mom)

Hope you guys enjoyed! What do you think of these? Awesome or not? I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions!

  1. I think the first two look really good. The second two I'm not crazy about. These are really interesting though. Thanks for sharing this review!
