- You always want to start off with a flawless face. Be sure you have the right shade of foundation that suits your personal skin type. You also want to make sure you have a foundation primer so that your foundation won't slip off throughout the night. First, evenly apply your primer with your fingers onto your face. After that, get your foundation and apply it to your face. You can apply it with your fingers, a foundation brush, or a makeup sponge. I would recommend a sponge for a prom look so your face looks totally airbrushed and non-cakey.
- Apply concealer if needed to cover your dark circles, blemishes, or scars. I have a DIY on concealer if you forgot to grab some if you click here.
- Apply a loose translucent powder on top of your foundation and concealer to set it. Be sure that it's a light application. If you use too much, you'll begin to look cakey.
- This part is optional, but it's necessary for me. I have very light eyebrows, so I have to darken them in with a brow pencil or eyeshadow. If you want a more dramatic effect, then I recommend darkening your brows.
- Now, it's time to move onto the eyes. If you want your eye makeup to stay on all night long, you're going to need an eyeshadow primer. Take a small amount (about a pea size) and disburse onto both of your eyelids. Be sure to rub it in evenly, and don't forget the crease and brow bone.
- You can use sponge brushes for our eye makeup since it really isn't too difficult or fancy. First, take a shade close to your skin tone and apply it to your brow bone, crease, and lid.
- Next, take a shadow a few shades darker than the one you just used and blend it into your crease. This will help add depth and dimension to your eyes.
- Last with the shadows, take a white or cream colored shadow and place it under your brow to add a highlight to your eyes.
- Now, time for the eyeliner. Use whatever you want, but I'm using gel liner to create a cat eye effect. Using an angled brush, load it up with the gel liner, and carefully line your eyes. Make it as thick or thin as you want. To create the cat eye, when you get to the outside corner, just wing it and extend it out. Play with it to make it exactly how you want it.
- Once you're done with that, curl your lashes and apply mascara. Be sure to take your time so your lashes don't turn clumpy and spider-like. Then, tightline your eyes (eyeliner on the upper water line) to add the illusion of even fuller lashes.
- Then, you can either line your bottom lower line with white liner or black liner. I chose white to give my eyes a bigger, wider look. If you want a more smoky look, go with the black.
- Finally, time for the lips. You can go with any color you want, but I chose pink. First, taking a lip liner (preferably a color close to the shade of lipstick you're using, or even an invisible one), line your lips. Take your time with this, too. It just looks silly if you make your lips unnaturally shaped. Once done lining, color your lips in with the liner.
- Now, take your lipstick and apply it. I prefer dabbing it onto my lips rather than the "traditional" way. After that, apply a topcoat or gloss for super shine.
- This part is optional, but if you want your cupids bow (that little dip in your upper lip) to really stand out, take a white eyeliner and lightly make a V shape to accentuate it and make your lips look ultra sexy.
- Next, apply a bronzer to your temples and a light pink blush to the apples of your cheeks. Highlight the highest area of your cheek bones (like you did with your eyes) with a white shadow or highlighting powder for a dewy glow.
